  • Program Philosophy

    The philosophy of the internship program is in accordance with the mission of Emory Hospitals:
      To serve humanity by improving health: Making People Healthy

      Vision
        To create the ideal patient/family experience
        To create the ideal physician experience
        To create the ideal staff experience
    Program Goals

    The program will prepare graduates to be competent entry-level dietitians.
      • Graduates will achieve a pass rate of 90% on the registration examiniation for dietitians.
      • Within 12 months of completing the program, at least 80% of graduates will have obtained employment in the field of nutrition or continued their education in a related field.
      • Graduates will evaluate their skill level to meet the competences as well prepared 85% of the time (at time of graduation).
      • Employers will rate graduates' knowledge base and abililty to perform as meeting the expectations of the positions 90% of the time.

    Through encouragement and support, program personnel will attempt to ensure that all interns graduate from the program.
    • Graduation rate will be 100%.
    • Interns will rate preceptors to be encouraging and supportive 90% of the time.
    • Interns will rate the director as encouraging and supportive 90% of the time.

    The program will provide interns with a wide range of experiences to expose them to the vast opportunities available in the practice of dietetics.
    • Interns will rate the variety of rotations and experiences as excellent or good.
    • Program will maintain rotations in clinical., community and food service.

    Accreditation: The Commission on Dietetics Education

    Emory Hospitals Dietetic Internship is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE). CADE is the American Dietetic Association's accrediting agency for education programs preparing students for careers as registered dietitians. CADE exists to serve the public by establishing and enforcing eligibility requirements and accreditation standards that ensure the quality and continued improvement of nutrition and dietetics education programs.

    CADE is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. This affirms that CADE meets national standards and is a reliable authority on the quality of nutrition and dietetics programs.
